cool, thoughtful people: poignant discussion of whether the trans flag is a good design because of the use of blue and pink to reference gender
me: I Would Just Never Wear Pastels

very insightful trans people on the internet: is it supporting conventional gender roles to use blue and pink? or is this an acceptable shorthand given the cultural context and lack of specificity of which color ~has~ to refer to which gender id?

@myconidiosyncrasy @PsyChuan
deep plum purple and violet trans flag with the black stripe in the middle

@myconidiosyncrasy @PsyChuan
it seems to be taking off which for whatever reason :oh_no: "What have I done?" even though that reaction doesn't make sense versus its reception,

@myconidiosyncrasy black is the queerest color, it consumed all the other colors

@myconidiosyncrasy this gave me a fucking crisis over the fact that I mostly wear black OR bizarre prints....and how do I wear black....with a black blazer...can I....

@myconidiosyncrasy what the trans flag lacks in my aesthetic sensibilities the bi flag makes up for and vice versa

@myconidiosyncrasy I love that I know different people who identity as either bi or pan just because they like their flag's colors better or especially dislike the other one's.

@myconidiosyncrasy tbh it's not why I'm bi but I do dislike the pan colors

@bright_helpings akdhdj yeah same. like there's some other reasons i prefer bi, and i have used pan in the past. but i gotta say the color palette definitely has a bigger influence on my choice than is remotely logical

99% agree except im just sayin. one exception. trans stripe thigh highs in an all black outfit is Good, Actually.

@myconidiosyncrasy this is it, we've found your one bad take,,,, pastels are so good

@myconidiosyncrasy I love pastels but I'm a guy and my favourite colour is pink so I guess I'm the first person because it does make me feel weird that my favourite colour is considered a "girl" colour on the flag haha

@CatEntity yeah i don't really have a problem with it as like. A Loose Representation Of Society's Current Gender Roles And Deviation From Them but it's original "blue for boys and pink for girls" is comically Not Good
